Unable to stop Ha, McKinney gives up 6 runs in 2G…8th loss in a row
Kiwoom Heroes foreign starting pitcher Ian McKinney had another bad outing.
McKinney took the mound on Tuesday against the SSG Landers of the 2023 KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon, South Korea, and was tagged for seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits (one home run) with two walks and one strikeout in three and two-thirds innings.
McKinney struck first in the bottom of the first inning after taking a 1-0 lead. He allowed a stolen base to Ji-Hoon Choi with one out, and the next batter, Jung Choi, singled up the middle to put runners at 1-3. Guillermo Heredia followed with a single to left. Park Sung-hwan followed with a straight hit to center field, but the next batter, Ha Jae-hoon, followed with a single to right. Down 1-2 in the bottom of the second, Park gave up a single to Shin-Soo Choo and a double to Ji-Hoon Choi in left field.
The third inning was also scoreless. The Tigers scored a run in the top of the third to cut the deficit to one, but again, they were unable to capitalize. After back-to-back singles by Eredia and Park Sung-ho, the bases were loaded and Ha Jae-hoon hit a home run over the left field fence. Sixth inning.
McKinney entered the KBO as a replacement for Eric Yokishi. He performed well in July, but in August, he gave up a lot of runs. He gave up eight runs against the NC Dinos on June 6 and six runs in four innings against the Gochuk Doosan Bears in his most recent outing on June 24.
McKinney gave up six or more runs for the second straight game against SSG on Tuesday. In the fourth inning, he gave up a triple to Choi Ji-hoon and a sacrifice fly to Kim Hwi-jip after left fielder Ronnie Dawson made a poor throw. Yang was left on the mound with two runners on base. No further runs were scored.안전놀이터
