“With Romano out with a back injury, Toronto acquired Jordan Hicks from the St. Louis Cardinals at the trade deadline.”

The return of Bissett, who plays a key role in the offense, is also imminent. “Toronto’s starting shortstop, Bo Bissett, will play designated hitter in a Triple-A rehab game on Saturday and, if all goes well, could return to the big leagues this weekend against the Cincinnati Reds,” TSN reported.

The outlet continued, “Bissett was batting .322 with 17 homers, 59 RBIs and 50 runs scored in 106 games before going on the 10-day disabled list with knee tendinitis. He was named to his second career All-Star team.” Other injured players who are close to returning include Chad Green (pitcher) and Kevin Kiermaier (outfielder).

Ryu made his first start of the season on May 14 against the Chicago Cubs, allowing two runs (unearned) on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings. It was his first win in 444 days since May 27 against the Los Angeles Angels last year.

Ryu threw 86 pitches on the day. His fastball reached 146.6 mph, his fastest of the season. He mixed in a changeup, cut fastball, and curveball.
