The FA Cup match drew attention before the game as a father-son encounter. Lee Ki-hyung, who took over the reins of Seongnam in December last year, played his first official match against Lee Ho-jae, who made his professional debut in a Pohang jersey in 2021.

Lee started as Pohang’s frontline striker on the day, fulfilling the father-son matchup that many fans had been anticipating.

The son was flying in front of the father.

Pohang took the lead in the 10th minute through Ha Chang-rae’s header and continued to push Seongnam.

Lee Ho-jae scored in the 28th minute to make it 1-0. A short ball from Ko Young-joon on the right side of the penalty box rattled the net with Lee Ho-jae’s right foot. Lee celebrated the goal with an uppercut after jumping with a jubilant expression.

Lee looked to complete his hat trick in the 36th minute when he found the back of the net with a header from a corner kick, but he was denied by a foul call.

Pohang, who reached the quarterfinals, will face defending champions Jeonbuk Hyundai for a spot in the last four.
