LG’s Seo Gun-chang, Doosan’s Lee Yoo-chan, and 5 other expanded roster call-ups confirmed “Don’t show weakness”

The Doosan Bears and LG Twins have finalized their rosters for the Sept. 1 expansion roster call-ups.

The KBO will expand the number of first-team rosters from 28 to 33 starting next month. “Infielders Seo Gun-chang and Kim Joo-sung, catcher Kim Ki-yeon, and pitchers Oh Seok-joo and Lee Woo-chan will be called up,” LG manager Yeom Kyung-yup said ahead of the 31st game.

Seo hasn’t played in the first team since May 14 against Daegu Samsung. In 31 games, he hit .207 with 18 hits, 12 RBIs, 14 runs scored, and 14 runs batted in. With Shin Min-jae, Kim Min-sung, and Jeong Joo-hyun already in the infield, it wasn’t easy for him to get a chance, but coach Yoon Kyung-yup believes in his “experience. In the Futures League, Seo hit .252 with 28 hits, 20 RBIs, 11 runs scored and 11 runs batted in in 32 games, and in his last 10 games, he’s batting .294.

Kim Joo-seong also adds strength to the infield. He has only nine games and 11 at-bats in his career, but he has been waiting for a call-up in the Futures League, hitting .285 with 53 hits (two home runs), 27 RBIs, 38 runs scored and 38 runs batted in in 56 games.

Catcher Kim Ki-yeon will join Park Dong-won and Heo Do-hwan as backups. Kim Ki-yeon is a player that Yoon Kyung-yeop has been watching since spring training and praising for his progress. He has appeared in 21 games for the first team this season. “Park Dong-won’s wrist was a little bit bad when he was pitching, so we had to use a catcher,” said Yeom.

Oh has a 4.35 ERA in 20 games and 20⅔ innings pitched in the Futures League. In his five appearances with the first team this year, he hasn’t been bad, totaling six innings and two runs. Lee, who was designated for assignment on the 23rd, will be designated for assignment on the 2nd. In 25 games and 26⅓ innings pitched in the first team this year, Lee has a 1-2 record with three holds and a 3.42 ERA.

Meanwhile, Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop announced that he will add pitchers Lee Hyung-beom and Kim Jung-woo and infielders Lee Yoo-chan and Park Ji-hoon to the expanded roster. Park Shin-ji, who is scheduled to start against Sasak Lotte on March 3, will fill the remaining spots.

Lee has appeared in 22 games and pitched 27 innings this season, but has been somewhat underwhelming with a 1-1 record and a 6.33 ERA. After giving up three runs in two consecutive games against KT on the 5th and Hanwha on the 11th, he was removed from the first team roster on the 13th and will return to the first team in 20 days.

Kim Jung-woo, who arrived in a Doosan uniform this year in a trade with the SSG Landers, made the first team midseason and struggled with an 8.53 ERA in 6⅓ innings before being dropped to the second team. In the Futures League, he went 3-1 with a 1.47 ERA and seven saves in 30 games, and has been particularly good in his last 10 games, posting a 0.96 ERA.

Lee, who was designated for assignment on July 10, will return to the first team in about three weeks. In 85 games with the first team this season, he has 49 hits (1 home run), 16 RBI, 25 runs scored, and a .251 batting average. Park, an all-around outfielder, was designated for assignment to the second team just three days after being designated for assignment to the first team on Aug. 18, and will be called up to the first team again via the expanded roster.

Doosan will start the weekend series against Lotte with Brandon Waddell, Raul Alcantara, and Park Shin-ji in that order. “Now we have two more pitchers on the roster, and with Shin-ji, we have three, so the timing of the pitching change might be a little quicker,” said Lee Seung-yeop. “If possible, it’s best for the starter to go at least five innings. But if that doesn’t work out, you have to get the backup pitchers ready quickly.”

“Actually, when you come up from the second team and go out in an important situation from the first game, you don’t know if you’re going to pitch well or if you’re going to be nervous or poor. It depends on the player himself. I hope the players will have a stronger mindset.”먹튀검증

Lee continued, “I don’t want them to think that they came up from the Futures, but from tomorrow, they’re in the first team, so I want them to think about the same situation and position and not lose the game. I don’t want them to look weak. Pitchers will understand if they get hit, but if they stick around and get hit, it will be understandable.”
