The LG Twins have reclaimed sole possession of first place in the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) standings after wrapping up the ‘War for First Place’ against the SSG Landers with a winning series.

The Twins pounded out 13 hits in the first and second innings to take an 8-3 victory over SSG in the 2023 Shinhan Bank Solar KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on Friday.

After finishing토토사이트 the three-game series against the title-chasing SSG with two wins and one loss, LG moved back into sole possession of first place with 28 wins, one draw and 15 losses.

SSG slipped from first to second place with 27 wins, one draw and 16 losses.

LG, who were left stranded 14 times in their last 24 games, took out their frustrations on the day as home run leader Park Dong-won fired up the cannon twice.

Park, who blasted a three-run shot in his first at-bat in the first inning, followed it up with a wedge solo home run in the eighth to lead the batting order with four hits and four RBIs.

Leadoff hitter Hong Chang-ki went 4-for-5 with a run scored.

LG starter Casey Kelly was solid in the circle, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits (one home run) with four strikeouts and two walks in six innings to earn her fifth win of the season (2-2).

SSG’s rookie Song Young-jin, who had won just three of his seven appearances prior to this game, suffered his first professional loss after giving up six runs on six hits (one home run) and three walks in two innings.

LG scored five runs in the first inning to take control of the game.

After leadoff hitter Hong Chang-ki led off with a double to left, Moon Sung-joo and Kim Hyun-soo drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Austin Dean walked to load the bases, but Oh Ji-hwan followed with a single to left.

With the bases loaded, Moon Bo-kyung hit a sacrifice fly to center field.

With runners on first and second and two outs, Park lined a low fastball from right-hander Song Young-jin over the left-center field fence for a three-run shot. It was the 11th home run of the season for the home run leader.

LG added another run in the second inning.

Shin Min-jae led off the inning with an infield single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Hong Chang-ki followed with a single to left to put runners on first and third, and Moon Sung-joo hit a rolling single to center field to bring home the third run.

SSG responded with three runs in the second inning.

With one out in the bottom of the inning, Park Sung-ki singled to right and Han Yoo-seom followed with a two-run shot (his second of the season).

After Jeon Eui-san singled and Choo Shin-soo walked to put runners on first and second, Choi Ji-hoon’s infield grounder was misplayed by LG second baseman Shin Min-jae and Jeon Eui-san, who was at second, came home.

However, LG was able to hold on to the lead as Kelly did not give up any more runs and added two runs in the eighth inning.

In the top of the eighth, Park Dong-won led off with a solo shot to left (his 12th of the season) off reliever Moon Seung-won.

After Park’s single and Shin Min-jae’s sacrifice bunt put runners on first and second, LG made it 8-3 with Hong Chang-ki’s RBI single to left-center.

Meanwhile, outfielder Kang Jin-sung, who had been traded to SSG ahead of the game, came to bat as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth and hit a grounder to second base.
